Fantasy Football: 5 Intriguing rookie wide receivers to consider drafting

Michael Pittman, Colts, NFL Draft, Fantasy Football

3. Michael Pittman Jr., Indianapolis Colts

Pittman doesn’t approach Lamb in terms of his hype as a prospect or his polished playing style. However, the USC product could get a lot of targets in Indianapolis’ offense this coming season. In fantasy football, volume often translates to easy points.

Since Indianapolis used the 34th overall pick on Pittman, he’s already a projected starter alongside T.Y. Hilton. Last season, Hilton battled injuries and turned in the worst performance of his career. As the 30-year-old enters the final season of his current contract, he wants to prove he can still perform at a Pro Bowl level.

The second receiver spot is wide open for Pittman. His main competition includes Zach Pascal, who led the Colts with 607 receiving yards in 2019. However, the 6-4, 223-pound Pittman already holds a widening lead over Pascal. The towering USC product is a jump-ball expert and knows how to leverage his physicality against defensive backs.

The arrival of Philip Rivers also raises Pittman’s fantasy football value. While Rivers struggled last season, he still threw for 4,615 yards. In comparison, Jacoby Brissett has never thrown for more than 3,098 yards in a single season.

Rivers’ arrival should generate a rising tide that lifts all boats in Indianapolis’ offense.
