2. Henry Ruggs III, Las Vegas Raiders
Ruggs is easily the most controversial top-ten wide receiver prospect from the 2020 NFL Draft. On the one hand, you have an electric receiver who runs a 4.27 40-yard dash and is earning comparisons to Tyreek Hill. On the other, Ruggs is 5-11, 188-pounds and never produced more than 750 receiving yards in a single collegiate season.
Today, NFL offenses want speed more than ever. Ruggs certainly brings that to the table. He makes other world-class athletes look like junior varsity sprinters. However, we’ve also seen speed fail to help receivers in the past. While Hill is a significant success story, what about Marquise Goodwin, Darrius Heyward-Bey, and John Ross?
The jury is still out on whether Ruggs can become a regular 1,000-yard receiver, but he should hit some home runs in 2020. Derek Carr is an underrated quarterback, and the Raiders have enough offensive pieces to keep Ruggs from facing double teams. The Alabama product should win any one-on-one foot race he enters.
From a fantasy football perspective, Ruggs is still a gamble. However, Hill led all wide receivers in fantasy points in 2018. That’s the ceiling Ruggs possesses. However, his floor is much lower than that of any other player on this list.
