Fantasy Football: 5 sleeper running backs to target for PPR leagues

After logging 100 rushes for 462 yards as a rookie last year, Alexander Mattison likely isn’t regarded as a pound-for-pound sleeper in the fantasy football world. In fact, we’d assert that he’s the top overall handcuff.

However, the 2019 third-round pick’s value, unfortunately, took a hit now that Dalvin Cook has reported to camp and confirmed that he never considered holding out for a new contract. That’s what makes him a sleeper in PPR leagues in our eyes.

Mattison showed last year that he has RB1 potential in all fantasy football formats. It obviously doesn’t help that Cook is one of the NFL’s most complete running backs, but he hasn’t played a full 16-game slate yet since entering the league in 2017.

To keep the Pro Bowler fresh and healthy for a potential playoff run, we wouldn’t be surprised if the Minnesota Vikings featured Mattison early and often this season. We see nothing wrong with grabbing the Boise State product in the middle rounds.
