1. Matt Breida
We don’t care what anyone says. Matt Bredia looked like the best running back in San Francisco last year, rushing 123 times for 623 yards and one touchdown while working in a three-man committee. Regarded as one of the fastest players (let alone RB) in the NFL, the 25-year-old could flourish with the Miami Dolphins, who acquired him via trade from the 49ers early in the offseason.
Unfortunately for Breida, the Dolphins owned the league’s worst rushing attack in 2019. As impossible as it sounds, 37-year-old quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick actually led them in rushing. The good news for Miami is that the team can only improve upon that pitiful performance, and utilizing Breida’s elusiveness would go a long way in helping the cause.
What makes the former undrafted talent out of Georgia Southern a potential gold mine in PPR leagues is that free agent signing Jordan Howard will likely be tasked with shouldering the early own work, leaving the door open for Breida to handle the snaps on obvious passing downs.
Don’t be surprised if we see Breida assume a role similar to the one that Miles Sanders had with the Philadelphia Eagles last year working as the No. 2 behind Howard. For those wondering, the Penn State product played second-fiddle for the first half of the season before becoming Philly’s most productive running back.
