4. Benny Snell, Pittsburgh Steelers
Benny Snell drew raves for his work in training camp, as he came in at a lighter weight and flashed better pass-catching ability. He’ll enter the season as the Steelers’ No. 2 running back, behind the perpetually banged-up James Conner.
Week 1 against the New York Giants looks favorable for the Steelers, and they could be nursing a lead in the second half. That would be an opportunity to keep Conner fresh for another day, and deploy Snell for a nice share of snaps.
Snell was worth drafting as the handcuff to Conner, and in deep leagues he was worth drafting as a standalone depth option (as I did in a 20-team league).
There’s a path to 50 total yards and a score for Week 1, making Snell worth a look as a flex option for those in a pinch.
