Green Bay Packers: Studs and Duds from Preseason Week 3

Dan Powers/USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin

Dud: QB Deshone Kizer

Kizer did not play dreadfully. But, he also did not play as well as he had for the first two preseason games. The reason that Kizer has fallen onto my list of duds is because he is losing pace in the race with Brett Hundley for the backup quarterback job.

Hundley and Kizer essentially each played half of the game. Hundley continues to improve and impress. Kizer had been impressive up until this game. Even then he had still had some throws that just make you go “wow.” But, his downfall were the mental lapses that nearly cost his team. These are the same mental lapses that plagued him at both Notre Dame and in Cleveland.

Kizer is the definition of a developmental quarterback. He is raw. Anybody around football knows this. He was taking steps in the right direction until his missteps against Oakland. I am assuming he will get plenty of playing time vs Kansas City and how he rebounds from his poor performance will be key.
