Patrick Mahomes, Quarterback

Is this guy off to a hot start to his NFL career or not? In five career starts, Patrick Mahomes is 5-0, and this year he’s thrown 14 TDs against no interceptions in 138 pass attempts.

But the Chiefs had done most of their work while playing with a lead prior to Monday night, when Mahomes proved that he has what it takes to lead a comeback against a strong defensive unit. He’ll have another chance to prove himself against a dominant Jacksonville defense in Week 5, but that’s a story for another day.

Mahomes actually posted what was statistically his worst game of the season against the Broncos, but he still completed 28 of 45 passes for 304 yards and a score. He also added three carries for seven yards and a TD on the ground, but it was his work in the fourth quarter that really turned heads.

Especially on the first play in the following video, where Mahomes converted a third-and-5 with his left hand (he’s right-handed, just in case you didn’t know).

So far, it seems like there’s nothing he can’t do. Obviously adversity will come, but to this point, Mahomes has answered the call at each and every turn.

The question is, what will he do next?
