New Patriots’ WR K.J. Osborn Speaks On Team’s QB Situation

The New England Patriots didn’t make a whole lot of big-time moves in free agency this month, but one of their key signings was wide receiver K.J. Osborn.

Osborn will join a receiving corps in desperate need of a boost, and he should certainly get more opportunities to catch the football than he did playing behind Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison while with the Minnesota Vikings.

But the question is, just who will be throwing passes to Osborn in 2024?

The Patriots’ quarterback situation is unsettled at the moment, but Osborn is confident things will be fine.

“It definitely went into the decision,” Osborn said, via Brian Hines of Pats Pulpit. “I spoke to coach (Jerod) Mayo and (OC Alex Van Pelt) and things like that for the plan going forward. … But, I trust them that everything will take care of itself.”

Osborn knew the situation from the beginning, so it’s not like he is going to be in for a rude awakening when he first steps on the field for New England.

“It doesn’t happen overnight,” Osborn said. “I know what I signed up for, it’s going to be a grind, man, and I want to be a person that helps this organization get back to where it needs to be.”

The 26-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Miami, was selected by the Vikings in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

He didn’t log a single statistic during his rookie campaign, but the following year, Osborn was impressive, catching 50 passes for 655 yards and seven touchdowns.

The Ypsilanti, Mi. then posted similar numbers in his third season, hauling in 60 receptions for 650 yards and five scores. He went on to snare 48 balls for 540 yards while reaching the end zone three times in 2023.

Right now, Jacoby Brissett is the Pats’ starting quarterback, but with the Patriots owning the No. 3 overall pick in the NFL Draft next month, that could quickly change.

For K.J. Osborn, patience is a virtue.
