New York Giants: 3 Keys to Victory in Week 4 vs. Saints

USA TODAY Sports

Contain Alvin Kamara

You’re not going to stop everything in the Saints offense, but you can focus on slowing down one particular thing.

The Giants should put their whole focus on trying to neutralize Kamara. Kamara is a lethal weapon on offense, being able to run the ball or catch it with ease.

As a running back, Kamara is third in the NFL with 30 receptions. That includes wide receivers. Yeah, he’s an unbelievable threat in the passing game. He’s the type of player that gives defensive coordinators headaches.

He is also a big play waiting to happen. The Giants can’t allow that to occur though. Although Kamara only has two plays of 20 or more yards this year, he can make a substantial play at any moment.

Of course, the Giants will need to contain Michael Thomas too, the whole offense revolves around Kamara (at least while Mark Ingram is out with his suspension).

No team this year has been able to completely hold Kamara in check, with him getting 99 or more yards from scrimmage in each game this season.

The Giants linebackers and whole defense for that matter, will need to be on their “A” game to stop this prolific offense. The Saints offense can get yards in chunks, which means this defense needs to be on its toes at all times.

If the Giants can keep Kamara under wraps, they should be in a phenomenal position to improve to 2-2 on the season. Beating the Saints would be a huge momentum boost for this Giants team.
