The AFC West did not have a divisional game in Week 1. Three of the four teams were able to pick up wins. All in all, it was a successful first week for the AFC West.

It began with the Kansas City Chiefs rolling over the Houston Texans in the opening game. Patrick Mahomes turned in a matter of fact performance that he made look easy. The Los Angeles Chargers survived a game thanks to a late missed field goal by the Cincinnati Bengals. Tyrod Taylor was given the starting job over rookie Justin Herbert.

In Carolina, the Las Vegas Raiders began their reign in Sin City with a victory. After blowing a 27-15 lead, the Raiders were able to score late to secure a 34-30 victory. The Denver Broncos were the lone team to lose and they did so in the final game of the week. Drew Lock was without his No. 1 receiver in Courtland Sutton.

The AFC South has the best quarterback in football playing in Kansas City. There are some other options who have been inconsistent throughout their careers and of course, a second year player looking to breakout.
