Mitchell Trubisky, Chicago Bears
Loses starting spot midseason
Mitchell Trubisky’s career has been a roller coaster since being selected second overall in 2017. As a rookie, Trubisky started eight games and did not show much production. In 2018, he was a Pro Bowler finished with 24 touchdowns and 12 interceptions while leading the Bears to an 11-3 record in 14 starts.
The 2019 season saw Trubisky and the Bears take a huge step back. He did not use his legs as much which took away one big aspect of his game. Trubisky threw just 17 touchdowns. Chicago made a deal for Foles in the offseason because of their hesitation with Trubisky. By midseason, the Bears could opt for the former Super Bowl MVP if Trubisky gets off to a slow start.
Final season in Chicago
This will be Trubisky’s fourth season in Chicago. The Bears made the decision to decline his fifth-year option and it was the right decision. Because of this, 2020 could be his final season in Chicago.
If Chicago makes the move to bench Trubisky in the middle of the season, there is no reason for them to give him another chance in 2021. When a team makes the decision to go to another quarterback during your final season under contract, that is it. Trubisky could benefit from a change of scenery.
Both of these predictions could be proven wrong if Trubisky comes out and has a monster season. This is what it is going to take for Trubisky to continue his time in Chicago past this season.
