Throws 35 touchdowns

Matthew Stafford missed eight games in 2019. He began his career with some injury issues but Stafford started all 16 games in each season from 2011-2018. In 2020, he will have to do this once again and if he does, he has the weapons to throw 35 touchdowns. This is something he has done just once in his career and it has not happened since throwing 41 in 2011.

Marvin Jones Jr. and Kenny Golladay are one of the top receiving duos in the league. Danny Amendola will return in the slot while promising young tight end T.J. Hockenson will look to take the next step. The Lions also added D’Andre Swift to the backfield. The Lions offense will not be short of weapons and it will be up to Stafford to put them all together.

Doubles win total from 2019

Stafford went 3-4-1 in eight games in 2019. It is no surprise that the team did not win a game once Stafford went down with an injury. He makes the Lions immediately better by being back on the field in 2020. This is not to say that Detroit will contend in the NFC North, but they will be much improved just by getting their quarterback healthy.

Prior to 2019, Stafford led the Lions to at least six wins in six straight seasons. This may not seem like a huge accomplishment but a 6-10 season is a lot better than a 3-12-1 season. Also, it looks toward the future. A six win season means that Stafford stayed healthy and the defense played better football than they did in 2019.
