SMU’s James Proche was the 30th WR taken in the 2020 NFL Draft, but it is difficult to argue there was a more productive college WR than him recently. Since 2017, Proche lead the NCAA is touchdowns catches with 33. In 2019 he was tied for 1st in receptions with 111, while raking in 1,225 yards and 15 TD’s (4th most in NCAA).

Proche’s most impressive stat might be his 2.5% career drop rate, only 9 drops on 437 targets during his time at SMU. His hands, ball-skills, and competitive nature are three traits that really stand-out when looking at Proche’s upside as a 6th round pick.

He fits in quite well with the Ravens offense as a potential slot receiver. As a rookie Proche would really have to earn his way on the field as he will be behind veteran Willie Snead and 3rd-round pick Devin Duvernay for slot reps. But by 2021, Proche could crave out a role in the offense as Snead will be a free agent.

The rookie receiver has already started working on the chemistry with his new QB Lamar Jackson, as he and other Ravens WR’s were seen in Florida recently. Proche is set up for a potential solid start to his young career as he is apart of one of the best teams in the league and will have a MVP QB throwing him the ball.
