NFL: 5 wide receivers listed as breakout candidates in 2020

Henry Ruggs III, Raiders, NFL Draft

Henry Ruggs III

The Las Vegas Raiders faced a need to add more dynamic elements to its offense and they accomplished precisely that by drafting Henry Ruggs III in the 2020 NFL Draft. The expectations will naturally be high for him despite being a first-year player considering he was the first receiver off the board.

Trying to slow down Ruggs III will be no easy task given the supporting talents he will be playing alongside with the Raiders. Defenses will need to worry about Darren Waller at tight end along with Josh Jacobs in the backfield without giving up too much from Ruggs III.

The statistical output Ruggs III achieved during his last season at Alabama certainly weren’t superstar figures, but he displayed his potential. His impact was respectable as he ended the 2019 season with 40 catches for 746 yards and seven touchdowns in 12 appearances.

It’s difficult to predict the production for a rookie entering the NFL but the circumstances are in Ruggs III’s favor to produce at a high-level right away. As long as he can stay healthy, he should be able to elevate the Raiders’ offense to new heights even as a rookie.
