Jonathan Allen
Another interior defender that hasn’t gotten the props he’s deserved in recent seasons is Jonathan Allen of the Washington Redskins. Allen began his career as Washington’s first-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft out of Alabama.
Therefore, he was given sky-high expectations coming into the NFL. Sadly, his rookie campaign was cut short due to a Lisfranc injury he sustained in Week 6. Nevertheless, he’s overcome the injury to total 14 sacks, 18 tackles for loss, and 25 quarterback hits over the last two seasons.
Even before the Redskins bolstered their defense this offseason, Allen was already a budding star in the NFL. However, with the addition of Chase Young — plus Montez Sweat and Da’Ron Payne — Allen could prove he’s worthy of being considered a star in 2020.
