New York Jets
Similar to the Redskins, the New York Jets would release Trumaine Johnson just a couple of seasons after giving him a lucrative contract. Although, Johnson would last just two years despite receiving a five-year, $72.5 million deal in NFL free agency in 2018.
With Johnson being one of the franchise’s worst free-agent signings in history, the Jets have some question marks at the cornerback position. Altogether, New York features a cornerback group that includes the likes of Pierre Desir, Arthur Maulet, Brian Poole, and Nate Hairston.
There has been much speculation that the Jets could pursue veteran Logan Ryan this offseason still. In the event that Ryan isn’t in the cards for them, New York should consider signing Williams, giving them a short-term solution at cornerback.
