Predicted team in 2020: Cincinnati Bengals

If it were three years ago, A.J. Green would be the biggest name to have a chance of hitting free agency this offseason. However, injuries have hindered his career in recent years, causing him to miss the entire 2019 season.

For Green’s first five seasons of his career, the Georgia product averaged 83 receptions, 1,234 yards, and nine touchdowns per year. Even though his last 1,000-yard campaign came in 2017, the Cincinnati Bengals are focused on having him end his career with the franchise that drafted him in 2011.

Nearly a month before this year’s draft, the Bengals are assumed to be taking Joe Burrow with the No. 1 pick. While he isn’t officially on the team yet, Burrow channeled his inner “Captain Phillips” and told Cincinnati to keep Green this offseason.

Even before Burrow’s endorsement, the Bengals planned on using the franchise tag on Green if they can’t come to terms on a long-term deal. Given that, it’s tough to believe that Cincinnati allows Green to meet with other teams in the coming weeks.
