Arizona Cardinals
Last season was supposedly going to be a bounce-back year for David Johnson. However, it was actually the emergence of Kenyan Drake that caught most by surprise. While Drake always had flashes of talent in Miami, many times he was denied the opportunity. That will change this season in Arizona.
Kenyan Drake is the feature back and he brings a lot to an already high octane offense–posing a real challenge for the rest of the NFC West. Last season after his trade to the Cardinals, he was one of the league’s best backs–proving to be a perfect fit for the offense.
Drake has incredible explosiveness. He may not be the largest back, but he uses his size to his advantage and is able to maintain leverage on defenders. Kenyan also has very good vision, often finding gaps in the offensive line that few backs would see. Drake is also a very valuable receiver out of the backfield as well. He truly is the definition of a playmaker and should be in for an even bigger season this year than his last.
While Drake is the surefire starting back for the Cardinals, there may be some competition to back him up. Currently, Chase Edmonds is sitting second on the depth chart. However, it would not be overly surprising if rookie back Eno Benjamin takes over as the primary backup as the season progresses.
While there will be a battle for the reserve role, there is no mistaking that Kenyan Drake is the Cardinals’ man in the backfield. Look for him to have at least 1,100 rushing yards, 400 receiving yards, and 12 total touchdowns.
