Seattle Seahawks

Remember back a few years ago when the Seattle Seahawks drafted Rashaad Penny to be the bell-cow back? Then Chris Carson came out of nowhere and took over the starting role. Last season Carson was doing very well, except for one major aspect. Carson just could not secure the football. The former seventh-round pick put the ball on the grown a total of seven times.

Penny was injured and Carson was the only legitimate option at running back. That was until his injury and Seattle had to call Marshawn Lynch out of retirement. The injuries and the inability to hold onto the football was Seattle’s main reason for bringing in veteran running back Carlos Hyde this offseason.

The Seahawks are at their best when they are playing balanced football. They cannot do that when their running back is coughing up the football almost every other game. With the trio of Hyde, Penny, and Carson, Seattle should always have a reliable back to hand the ball off to.

The Seahawks understand that Russell Wilson is an incredible talent, however, he cannot be the entire offense. It will be interesting to see if Seattle implements a rotation similar to the one in San Fransisco, or if the Seahawks will adopt their own style.

Although the Seahawks’ offense has been great in recent years, the offensive line has been very poor. Not much will change this year either and this will impact the running game as well as the passing attack. Seattle will need their running backs healthy and ready to compete once the season starts to help outduel the rest of the NFC West.

Expect Carson to lead all backs with 950 rushing yards and 4 rushing touchdowns. However, Hyde and Penny may both be around 600 rushing yards each and Penny will lead the team in rushing touchdowns with 8 of his own.
