Tennessee Titans — Pass Rush

The Titans have been linked to free-agent defensive star Jadaveon Clowney from the moment the NFL offseason began. And, if they can find a way to bring him in, feel free to replace their weakness with right tackle.

But for right now, Tennessee has a clear issue in their ability to get to the quarterback. Outside linebacker Harold Landry has shown bits and pieces of becoming a star, and might take the leap in his third year in the league. Same for second-year defensive end Jeffery Simmons, who showed the makings of a future star in the small bits and pieces he played in 2019 while recovering from an ACL injury.

But both Landry and Simmons are still learning to become consistent players. Both are clearly talented but aren’t yet matching that talent with consistent production. Which could be a nightmare from the Titans, who aren’t getting much pass rush production anywhere else.

Former first-round draft pick Vic Beasley could help create some sacks, but he hasn’t had a double-digit sack season since 2016. And aside from those three big names, Tennessee doesn’t have much when it comes to hitting the quarterback outside of Daquan Jones and a cast of unproven defensive linemen.

Clowney could come in and solve these issues. But the Titans have to get him first.
