Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley will combine for 20 receiving touchdowns
It was just two years ago Matt Ryan threw for 35 touchdowns, only three less than his MVP season in 2016. In that same season, Calvin Ridley caught 10 touchdown passes and Julio Jones caught eight.
This year, arguably the strongest wide receiver duo in the league will help Matt Ryan turn back the clock and rack up 20 touchdowns between the two of them.
Last season was a down year for both players. They only combined for 13 touchdowns, and Jones averaged one of his lowest yards per game in his accomplished career.
Ridley is hitting his age 26 season, continuing through his prime, which began last year. Jones is a bit older, coming into his age 31 season, but is still a proven productive superstar receiver.
The Falcons had a down year last season, despite Ryan finishing fifth in the league in passing yards.
Recently, in 2014, Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb of the Green Bay Packers combined for 25 receiving touchdowns. A season which also saw their quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, take home MVP honors.
It will take another MVP caliber year out of Ryan, which he proved in 2018 he is capable of, and more importantly, it will take a dominant season from the two receivers, especially in the red zone, where Jones is typically one of the best.
