Tennessee Titans
Trade Package: Tennessee Titans get Auden Tate for a 2020 seventh-round pick and a 2021 fifth-round pick.
Currently, the Titans hold two seventh-round picks. While Auden Tate is likely worth more, he is currently buried on the Bengals’ depth chart. It is likely he sees very little playing time this season, that is if the Bengals do not cut him.
Tate is a big-body receiver who is a very good red zone threat. The Titans are one of the leagues most efficient red zone offenses. Adding Tate would help the passing game, and take some pressure off the run game as well.
While his season was cut short due to injury last year, Tate was on his way towards a breakout season. How did the Bengals reward him? By drafting a wide receiver with the first pick of the second round. Tate is fighting for the fourth spot on the depth chart, but he is good enough to be a second or third option for many teams.
The Titans found a gem in A.J. Brown last season. Corey Davis has yet to live up to his expectations. Tate would compete with Davis for that second wide receiver position.
Many teams are likely going to try and key in on the Titans’ run game this season. Derrick Henry is coming off of a career year. Adding another receiver would let the Titans spread the ball out a bit, which in turn will help Henry as well.
Cincinnati would get two late-round picks in consecutive years. This is better than having a talented player waste away on the bench and then just leave in free agency.
