It has been clear that the Eagles’ secondary was in need of an upgrade. This was done through a trade with the Detroit Lions when they acquired Darius Slay. Before the season begins, the Eagles could improve another defensive position with a trade.

Philadelphia made the decision to cut Nigel Bradham. Their middle linebacker job will be given to T.J. Edwards with Dante Olson or Davion Taylor as the backup.

One name to keep an eye on is Avery Williamson of the Jets. Williamson is set to return in 2020 after suffering a knee injury last season. He is in the final year of his contract in New York and carries an $8.5 million cap hit. This is something that the Jets look to unload prior to the season.

If they choose, the Eagles could be suitors. The addition of Slay has already improved one position and Williamson could do the same for the linebacking group–solidifying their standing in the NFC East.
