5. Davante Adams – Green Bay Packers
Davante Adams is one of the leagues best route runners. If you look at Adams’ stats without knowing how many games he played last season, one would think he is a formidable starting receiver. 997 yards, 83 receptions, and five touchdowns are solid numbers but nothing spectacular.
However, Adams missed four games due to injury last season. If Adams stayed healthy, he could have led the league in receiving yards. Having the stats he did while missing four games is truly incredible.
Although Adams has very good hands and solid speed, it is his route running that sets him apart. Adams runs some of the cleanest routes in all the NFL. While Adams doesn’t have elite-level speed, he does have a fantastic release and is able to gain separation quickly.
Adams is a true student of the game. He understands the nuances of the game and works to perfect his craft. Look at him go over some of his best routes in this breakdown with Brian Baldinger below:
For much of the season, Adams was Aaron Rodgers’ only consistent target. He is a player than shines in big moments and in big games. In the Divisional Round of the playoffs, Adams exploded. The Pro Bowl wide receiver exploded for 160 yards and two touchdowns. He was a key factor in Green Bay’s 28-23 victory.
