DeAndre Hopkins, Arizona Cardinals
It still feels strange thinking of DeAndre Hopkins in Arizona. Hopkins has been the face of Houston’s offense for a long time. It was a strange trade as well, the Cardinals got him for a back they scarcely used and a second-round pick.
That is chump change for one of the self-proclaimed best receiver in the game. The unfortunate thing for Hopkins was he finally had a quality quarterback throwing him the ball in Houston. Now Hopkins is in Arizona with another promising franchise-quarterback in Kyler Murray, so there isn’t much to complain about there.
Last season was a bit of a down year for Hopkins, failing to surpass 1,200 receiving yards and being held to only 11.2 yards per reception. However, much of that was due to the fact he was double teamed or had a safety spying on him throughput most games. The Cardinals have two very solid receivers in Christian Kirk and Larry Fitzgerald. This will make it difficult for defenses to double team Nuke.
Hopkins is an incredible athlete and an extremely competitive player. When the ball is in the air his way, nine times out of 10 he will come down with it. Hopkins’ incredible hands, ability to create yards after the catch and his athleticism are what make him an elite playmaker. While last season wasn’t his best, but DeAndre Hopkins will remind everyone around the league why he should be considered the best receiver in the NFL in 2020.
