Week 17 – Chicago Bears (Road)
During the 2019 season, the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers were on two different trajectories. Chicago was hoping to see a major progression in their second overall pick in Mitchell Trubisky, ultimately to be disappointed. Chicago’s defense, on the other hand, looks primed and ready to be an elite unit, enough to keep them above water as a team.
Earlier in the offseason, the Bears traded for quarterback Nick Foles from Jacksonville to come in and compete for the starting spot with Trubisky. Many people see Foles taking the reigns right away, but it seems general manager Ryan Pace will give Trubisky any chance he can to prove he was worth the pick.
This matchup was difficult because it can be two different situations but both can end up in must win games. If Foles starts for most of the season, Chicago can definitely be in the running for the NFC North title or even a playoff spot. The latter is Trubisky starting through the season and can lead a spoiler revenge effort against Green Bay who has had his number since being drafted.
In both situations, they can be equally dangerous must win situations for Green Bay against Chicago. The game would be played in Soldier field in January primed for cold weather. That could play right into the Bears’ wheelhouse keeping it a low scoring game with that amazing defense.
Chicago in Week 17 is definitely a must win because records go out the window with the longest tenured rivalry in the NFL. It only amplifies in important when the playoffs are right around the corner.
