Mohamed Sanu is a Free Agent in 2021

There could be a real reason to look towards outside help at the wide receiver position for the New England Patriots after the 2020 season. With Mohamed Sanu set to become a free agent, they could be left to having to add a starting quality talent.

The expectation is that Sanu will fill the No. 2 receiver role in the Patriots’ offense in 2020. He struggled to find a rhythm and make much of an impact after being traded to New England.

There is reason to believe in Mohamed’s ability to bounce back but it’s certainly far from a guarantee. The 2018 season was the best of his NFL career as he achieved totals of 66 receptions, 838 receiving yards, and four touchdown grabs.

If Sanu doesn’t achieve results closer to his 2018 levels, the Patriots could be in need of a No. 2 receiver. If Keenan Allen was interested in signing with New England, they’d instead be getting a No. 1 and that could truly elevate the offense.
