4. Los Angeles Rams
While it was only two years ago that the Rams were in the Super Bowl and lost a low-scoring contest to the New England Patriots, this team has made the least progress since and has the most holes going into the 2020 season.
Jared Goff had moments of brilliance last year but was also extremely frustrating at times. Until he shows that he can consistently be the player the rams need, there remain questions about how far this team can go.
Now, a team with Aaron Donald and Jalen Ramsey on defense will be able to make their fair share of plays. Losing Dante Fowler will be a huge hole that the Rams will not be able to fill this year. The defense will be important in the NFC West–a division with so many play-makers, but the lack of offensive firepower is what is going to hurt this team.
Sean McVay is an excellent play caller and will put this team in a position to win their fair share of games. A rookie running back makes it unclear if the team will be able to consistently establish the run. But, the question about this team is that when the game is on the line, and the quarterback needs to make a play, is Jared Goff the guy? That remains to be seen.
