Derrius Guice emerges as the team’s featured back
Back in the 2018 NFL Draft, Washington thought they had found their franchise running back in the second round. The team took Derrius Guice out of LSU, creating some excitement for the team’s running game. However, before he even got a chance to make his first career start in the regular season, Guice would suffer a season-ending knee injury.
Following his unfortunate injury, the Redskins’ expectations of Guice didn’t waver as the 2019 season approached. Then, in Week 1 of last season, Guice would sustain a knee injury despite playing the entire game versus the Philadelphia Eagles. Upon his return in Week 11, Guice would suit up in four games, only to be placed on injured reserve after Week 14.
Seeing that he’s been unable to remain on the field, predicting that Guice is going to remain healthy appears to be the boldest of bold predictions. Not to mention, Guice is going to have to earn the starting job with Adrian Peterson, Bryce Love, and Peyton Barber seeking opportunities in the offense. With that being said, Guice is going to stay upright in 2020 and finally become Washington’s featured back.
