Finish At Least Average in Pass Protection
It has become almost expected for the Seattle Seahawks to field an underachieving offensive line while Russell Wilson has to make magic happen with his mobility. That appears to be what is in store for the Seahawks and Wilson in 2020.
Last season, Wilson was sacked 48 times (T-24th) and not all of that has to do with the offensive line, but certainly a vast majority of it does. There are some situations when a mobile quarterback will try to do too much to extend a play, but that wouldn’t be as necessary to do with a clean pocket.
Aside from Duane Brown, there are plenty of questions facing the Seahawks’ offensive line heading into the upcoming season. Seattle didn’t do nearly enough to solidify its offensive line from an outsider’s perspective. Their confidence in internal options will need to pay off.
If the Seahawks can provide Wilson with consistently passing conditions to throw the ball, it’s difficult to envision many teams being able to contain Seattle’s offense. This is especially important when trying to defeat elite defenses like that of the San Francisco 49ers.
