Former Alabama tight end, Amari Niblack, has found a new home and is set to reunite with a couple of his former teammates. Niblack’s decision to transfer to the Texas Longhorns was announced on Thursday night, following in the footsteps of wide receiver Isaiah Bond and linebacker Kendrick Blackshire.
Hailing from Clearwater (Fla.) Lakewood, Niblack was highly regarded as the top tight end available in the transfer portal. His journey began as a four-star prospect in the 2022 recruiting cycle.
In his freshman year, he made appearances in 10 games, earning one start. It was during this season that he secured his first career touchdown with his solitary catch.
In 2023, Niblack’s role within the Alabama offense expanded significantly. He made an impact by hauling in 20 passes, amassing an impressive 327 yards, and contributing four touchdowns to his team’s success.
It’s worth noting the irony that one of those touchdowns came against Texas, his future team, during a game on September 9. Niblack also found the end zone in clashes against Middle Tennessee, Arkansas, and Kentucky.
Alabama is not slated to face the Texas Longhorns during the 2024 regular season. Therefore, Niblack won’t have the opportunity to compete against his former program unless they cross paths in the SEC Championship Game or the College Football Playoff.
