Raiders: Pass Defense
There were a lot of holes on the defensive side of the ball for the Las Vegas Raiders during the 2019 season. They managed to make some helpful additions to improve in the offseason, but there are still plenty of questions that remain.
Last season, the Raiders’ pass coverage gave up 4,107 passing yards (25th), 33 passing touchdowns (T-27th), and 9 interceptions (29th). It became abundantly clear they needed to make significant changes in the offseason to be able to turn things around in 2020.
While signing Damarious Randall and selecting Damon Arnette with the No. 19 pick should help, overall they didn’t do enough in the offseason to achieve significantly improved results in 2020. The signing of Eli Apple falling through certainly didn’t help either.
It’s crucial the Raiders emphasize its ability to effectively play in pass coverage and generate impactful pass rush playing in the same division as Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. Especially with the Denver Broncos investing so much in its passing attack, too.
