Chargers: QB Play
The Los Angeles Chargers have a high-level defense and plenty of weapons on offense, but they lacked a reliable offensive line and Philip Rivers wasn’t close to his 2018 MVP caliber form. They went from posting a 12-4 record to just 5-11 the season before.
The Chargers ultimately elected to move on from Rivers during the offseason allowing him to sign a one-year deal with the Indianapolis Colts. While that was certainly a justifiable decision, they now face questions at this spot for the upcoming season.
Justin Herbert is expected to use his rookie campaign mostly to develop on the sidelines and the Chargers will be relying on Tyrod Taylor as their starter to begin the 2020 season.
The main issue with Taylor is that he was last a starting quarterback in 2017 and achieved legitimately underwhelming results using an overly conservative approach. He produced the lowest interception percentage that season but totaled only 14 touchdowns.
