The Minnesota Vikings have had to overcome a lot of adversity this season to be in the position that they are in. Star wide receiver Justin Jefferson hasn’t played since Week 5 because of a hamstring injury. But, the biggest blow came in Week 8 against the Green Bay Packers.

Starting quarterback Kirk Cousins suffered a season-ending Achilles injury, which left a huge void in the lineup. The Vikings could have turned to rookie Jaren Hall or Nick Mullens, but instead, they opted to make a trade.

Minnesota acquired Joshua Dobbs from the Arizona Cardinals, who had announced days prior to the deadline that rookie Clayton Tune would be replacing him as the starter. Dobbs was thrown into the fire, as Hall suffered a concussion in the first half in Week 9 against the Atlanta Falcons.

He responded about as well as you could have hoped for from a player who had yet to take a practice rep with his new team. Dobbs helped lead the team to a victory, but he actually wasn’t the first quarterback the team looked into acquiring.

According to former NFL quarterback Scott Zolak, the Vikings checked in on Tom Brady. Zolak shared that Brady was one of the names head coach Kevin O’Connell floated as a possible replacement for Cousins. He revealed this on the show he co-hosts, “Zolak and Bertrand Show” last week.

While Zolak did share that the Vikings reached out, he did add that Brady is done with playing and won’t be coming out of retirement. This isn’t the first time we have heard about the future Hall of Famer being approached, as numerous teams have been linked to him as a possible addition that has faced quarterback troubles this season.

While Brady would have certainly been a huge splash, the Vikings have to be happy with how things turned out. Dobbs has been excellent for them, stepping in for the injured Cousins, and helping keep their playoff hopes alive with solid production under center.
