4. Dwayne Haskins Has Breakout Season
It seems as though opinion on Dwayne Haskins was formed immediately after his first performance and it was never reviewed again. Haskins played in nine games, making seven starts, and his debut was a disaster. He threw three interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown, against the New York Giants.
Haskins then entered a Thursday night matchup against the Minnesota Vikings and threw another touchdown. Following that game, Haskins was named the full time starter.
As a starter, Haskins threw seven touchdowns and just four interceptions. His decision making was exceptional. He put up big-time performances against the Philadelphia Eagles and Giants, before leaving this game with an injury.
There are not many passengers on the Haskins’ bandwagon heading into 2020. It is not possible to judge a quarterback based on seven starts. Not to mention that Haskins made seven starts for the worst offense in football. Haskins will have something to prove this season and he will do it with some new weapons and a new head coach.
This is the first time that Haskins is preparing to be the starting quarterback. Case Keenum was the starter for Washington last season in Week 1.
If he plays as he did down the stretch of 2019, Haskins could have a breakout season. This could be in the neighborhood of 3,500 yards with 25+ touchdowns and single-digit turnovers.
