Departure of Randall Cobb in free agency
The Cowboys have a need for more depth at the wide receiver position after Randall Cobb signed a three-year, $27 million deal with the Houston Texans. There aren’t many options in free agency as Taylor Gabriel, Chris Hogan, and David Moore are considered the top remaining options.
The main options the Cowboys currently have aside from Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup are incredibly underwhelming. While not all of these players will stay on the roster, they have Noah Brown, Cedrick Wilson Jr., Lance Lenoir, Tevin Jones, and Ventell Bryant, none of which are enough.
What the Cowboys need is a player that has made a proven impact at the NFL level that is capable of sliding in at the slot role Cobb played. It wouldn’t be outlandish to think Bryant could do this, especially when considering he’s already expressed interest in playing a smaller role.
An advantage the Cowboys have with Bryant is that they he could potentially sign a cheap one-year deal to re-establish himself. It would also alleviate some pressure to address the wide receiver position early in the upcoming NFL Draft.
