3 reasons Jalen Hurts was a perfect addition for the Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles made a surprising selection in the second-round of the 2020 NFL Draft. They elected to choose former Oklahoma quarterback Jalen Hurts with the No. 53 pick.

The Eagles took the best player available and bolstered their depth at the quarterback position as a result. It was a curious choice considering there were a variety of talented prospects at other positions that Philadelphia could have taken in the second round instead.

While it may not have been overly pressing, the backup quarterback position became a need for Philadelphia after Nick Foles departed last year. They lacked much for talent at this position and that’s an issue considering the general importance of the quarterback position.

During his sole season with Oklahoma, Hurts completed 237 of his 340 pass attempts (69.7% completion percentage) resulting in 3,851 yards, 32 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. That’s without considering the 1,298 rushing yards and 20 rushing touchdowns he added, too.

With that being said, there are three reasons Jalen Hurts was a perfect addition for the Eagles.
