It can be difficult for a team to find a long-term answer at the quarterback position. When using the NFL Draft, it can be rough to go through the growing pains that come with almost all rookies, It’s also rare for a reclamation project from free agency to pan out, too.

With all of those factors taken into consideration, trading for a quarterback that has been given the opportunity to sit and develop is an advantageous option. That’s why Jalen Hurts could eventually be used as an attractive trade chip if the Eagles never have a need to use him as a starter.

There will be teams with old quarterbacks that will need to find replacements at some point. It’s too early to perfectly predict the landscape of the quarterback market, but some players like Ben Roethlisberger, Tom Brady, Philip Rivers, and Drew Brees will be retiring soon.
