Philip Rivers is set to hit the open NFL free agency market on March 18th and has been connected to quite a few teams so far. While there are a few teams that would make a lot of sense for him, the Indianapolis Colts are by far the best possible free agency destination for him.
Rumors have been connecting Rivers and the Colts all offseason long. Some have gone so far as to say that Indianapolis is a lock to end up signing Rivers.
Last season with the Los Angeles Chargers, Rivers had a rough all-around season. He completed 66 percent of his pass attempts for 4,615 yards, 23 touchdowns, and 20 interceptions. The turnover numbers were incredibly disappointing.
Indianapolis seems to be looking for an upgrade over Jacoby Brissett. He struggled at times during his first full season as the starter following Andrew Luck’s surprising retirement. Rivers would be an upgrade, but his long-term future with the team would be a question.
At this point in time, Rivers is only planning to play two more NFL seasons. That has raised red flags about the Colts going after him.
All of that being said, let’s dive in and take a look at three reasons Rivers to the Colts actually makes perfect sense.
