Are they wanting to trade up from No. 15?
There was a recent report from Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer stating the Broncos as a team that could look to trade up in the first round to select an offensive tackle. It didn’t take long for Benjamin Allbright to express that he would ‘highly doubt’ Denver would look to move up to do that.
Whether the Broncos are looking to move up in the first round or not, the fact they’re interested in an offensive tackle is interesting in itself. Bolstering their ability to protect Drew Lock in the pocket and to maximize running lanes for Melvin Gordon makes plenty of sense.
The main obstacle for the Broncos if they do seek an offensive tackle will be other teams being interested in addressing the same position. Between possible teams like the Arizona Cardinals, Jacksonville Jaguars, Cleveland Browns, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, there will be competition for tackles.
Considering how Denver has extra draft capital this year, they could theoretically use some of it to trade up for an offensive tackle. It would be a logical approach since the top offensive tackles have a chance to be off the board by the time the Broncos are even on the clock.
