4 burning questions for the Broncos entering the NFL Draft

David Berding-USA TODAY Sports

How big of a priority is the WR spot?

There is a clear need for the Broncos to add more dynamic talent at the wide receiver position. For much of the build-up to the 2020 NFL Draft, the thought was that Denver is interested in a wide receiver, particularly Henry Ruggs III from Alabama.

The projection of a wide receiver to the Broncos at No. 15 made plenty of sense considering their need for a complement alongside Courtland Sutton. That raises the question if Denver does indeed plan to trade up in the draft to be in position for an offensive tackle, when will they select a receiver?

A significant benefit of this year’s draft class is that it features a deep wide receiver group with a diverse set of skill-sets. Whether the Broncos look to address this spot in either the second or third round, prioritizing a speedy target that can stretch the field would be ideal.

Depending on how the Broncos’ pursuit of an offensive tackle in the first round pans out, using the No. 15 selection on a receiver would be an effective backup plan. In this scenario, one of the top receivers would surely still be available on the board.
