2. The Cowboys’ Defense Is Concerning

There may not be a team in the NFL that has a worse defense than the Cowboys right now. It has become a weekly struggle for Dallas to get stops and prevent teams from hanging over 30 points on them.

Allowing the Browns to score 24 points in the second quarter forced the Cowboys’ offense to have to rally back from a substantial 31-14 halftime deficit. The margin for error Dallas faced at this point was simply too much to overcome despite rallying back late.

After the Cowboys’ offense put up 24 points in the final period to have a real chance to win the game, their defense allowed Odell Beckham Jr. to run for a 50-yard touchdown. That sequence ultimately proved to be too much to overcome— resulting in a loss.

Allowing the Browns to score 49 points is simply an inexcusable outing for the Cowboys. This now marks consecutive weeks where Dallas has exceeded the 30-mark on the scoreboard but came away with a loss.

Until the Cowboys improve defensively, they are going to struggle to win many games. The outlook for that occurring remains bleak.
