3. Lions Defense Shows Growth
When going up against a tough offense like the one the Cardinals have, it’s understandable for any defense to not completely contain them. However, it’s important to at least make meaningful plays throughout the flow of the game.
Managing to intercept Kyler Murray a total of three times was a genuinely impressive feat for the Lions’ defense. It was genuinely intriguing to see one of those plays being made by rookie corner Jeffrey Okudah. It could take some time to fully find his stride, but that shows progress, nevertheless.
With a real chance for the momentum to swing in the final quarter, the Lions’ defense continued to hold their own. Detroit didn’t allow any points within that particular frame after previously giving up a game-high 10 points in the third quarter.
It wasn’t a perfect outing for the Lions’ defense, by any stretch of the imagination. Detroit just showed resolve when it mattered most and managed to come up with key plays to contain the Cardinals’ offense just enough en route to a victory.
