The Chiefs’ Defense Must Improve

The Raiders have individual talents that can pose matchup problems for most defenses. It only amplifies during days when everything seems to be clicking, but regardless, the Chiefs’ lack of execution was inexcusable at times.

The Chiefs’ defense went through stretches where it seemed things unraveled and simply fell apart. They allowed three consecutive touchdown drives to close both halves in this game.

There were far too many plays when a Raiders receiver was able to find wide-open space deep downfield for Derek Carr to capitalize on. The Chiefs looked to blitz often and then reverted back to emphasizing having more defensive backs in zone coverage— neither of which succeeded.

It’s important the Chiefs manage to not get torched in pass coverage to the point where even their own potent offense is unable to keep up.
