The Chiefs’ Offense Went Cold And Didn’t Come Back
There was a lot going right on offense for both teams in the opening half of this game. Each time had 24 points on the scoreboard with no signs of slowing down…until they did.
Neither team managed to put up a single point in the third quarter. However, the difference in this game was the Raiders’ ability to heat up on offense in the final period— pulling off a pair of touchdown drives and a made field goal to add 16 points to their total.
It wasn’t until the Chiefs faced a 16-point deficit on their final possession of this game that they scored again. It was a classic case of ‘too little, too late’ as they failed to get a stop on defense to get the ball back.
The Chiefs deserve benefit of the doubt when it comes to their offense. However, having to punt on their initial three drives of the second half and then throwing a pick was troubling.
It seemed the pass catchers for the Chiefs consistently failed to create much separation while Patrick Mahomes was forced to have to roll out of the pocket too often. There are some things Kansas City must clean up before Week 6.
