4. San Francisco Wide Receivers
The receiving corps in San Francisco have not been the best since Kyle Shanahan took over as head coach. In 2019, the 49ers made a trade for Emmanuel Sanders and Deebo Samuel burst onto the scene.
Well in 2020, Sanders is now in New Orleans and the unit struggled in the season opener. Samuel did not play in Week 1. Rookie Brandon Aiyuk was also sidelined but is expected back this week.
Kendrick Bourne was the leading wide receiver in Week 1 with two catches for 34 yards. He was behind Mostert, Kittle, and Kyle Juszczyk. They were banged up in Week 1 but the receiving corps have to be better this week, especially if Kittle is held out of the game because of his knee injury.
The Jets’ secondary is not the strength of their team. Jamal Adams is now in Seattle and the cornerbacks are a struggling unit. The game plan for the 49ers will have to include getting their wide receivers going early.
