1. Sam Darnold
The Jets selected Sam Darnold third overall in the 2018 NFL Draft. As we sit here in 2020, we still do not know what Darnold is. He is trying to change the narrative of USC quarterbacks in the NFL but has not succeeded just yet.
Darnold is a model of inconsistency. He has played behind a poor offensive line for most of his career. Gase is doing him no favors as a head coach and his weapons have been mediocre. Regardless, Darnold has not done himself any favors.
This matchup against the 49ers’ defense is one that should terrify Jets’ fans. Who can forget Darnold’s game against the New England Patriots in 2019? Darnold finished 11-32 for 86 yards and four interceptions. That just can’t happen.
There have been times where Darnold has looked like a franchise player. He turned in an incredible game against Dallas last season. In this matchup, the Jets are a touchdown underdog at home. If Darnold turns the ball over at will Sunday, the game will be much more lopsided than the spread.
