4 needs for the Minnesota Vikings in NFL free agency

Safety

The main certainty surrounding the safety position for the Vikings is Harrison Smith. There is a lot that needs to be sorted out around him when it comes to Anthony Harris being set to hit free agency. If he were to sign elsewhere, the void left behind would be tough to fill.

Based on the current restrictive cap situation Minnesota faces, they should prepare for having to replace Harris. According to Spotrac, he is set to command a contract with projected annual earnings of $13.8 million. A figure in that range would be difficult for the Vikings to offer.

There aren’t many options available in free agency that are realistic for the Vikings aside from bargain signings. If that route isn’t appealing, the NFL Draft may have to be used as a method of adding more talent at the safety position this offseason.
