Jalen Mills

One of the key, surprising decisions that the Eagles made this offseason was to decline the team option for Malcolm Jenkins in 2020. As a result, Jenkins became a free agent and Philadelphia was in need of finding someone worthy to replace him.

From 2014-2019, Jenkins was one of the leaders on Philadelphia’s defense at the strong safety position. While Jenkins reunited with the New Orleans Saints in free agency and the Eagles retained Jalen Mills, with the idea of moving him to strong safety.

Seeing that Mills has struggled at cornerback in his first four seasons, the Eagles believe a position change can rejuvenate his career. With Philadelphia having him be the replacement for Jenkins in 2020, Mills is going to be under a ton of pressure to perform well.
