The 2020 NFL season is rapidly approaching and for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New Orleans Saints, they will kick off Week 1 with an NFC South rivalry matchup. It will also mark the Bucs debut of Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski.
Only the Green Bay Packers and San Francisco 49ers managed to win as many regular season games as the Saints in 2019. The only issue, both of those other teams managed to make it all the way to the NFC Championship Game while New Orleans lost in the Wild Card Round.
Experiencing another shortcoming in the playoffs caused the Saints to make some changes. The team moved on from Larry Warford as he proved to be a liability the Minnesota Vikings exploited in the playoffs, replacing him with Cesar Ruiz. New Orleans also now has Emmanuel Sanders to complement Michael Thomas.
The Buccaneers had another losing season as they posted just a 7-9 record. It was a busy offseason for Tampa Bay as a result. The team capitalized on the opportunity to sign Tom Brady and managed to bring Rob Gronkowski out of retirement to join him.
Both teams will be aiming to contend for the Super Bowl in 2020 and many experts believe in their chances to do so. While winning this Week 1 matchup will help for tie-breaker purposes down the line, it will also serve as an indicator of where each organization is at after a strange offseason.
